[ Virtual Try-On Web/App ] – for Shiseido Group (2019 to 2021)

I have worked with Shiseido Technology Acceleration Hub that specialized in AI technologies and create SaaS and B2C projects. Built Makeup Virtual Try-On experience for different makeup brands under Shiseido group (Shiseido, Laura Mercier, Bare Minerals, NARS, etc.) on their official website and APP.

Role: Product Designer

Team: Technology Acceleration Hub of Shiseido (AI technology: Machine Learning and Computer Vision)

Main Task

  • Collect data and Label them by internal labeling tool.
  • Collect research findings and competitor analysis to develop user experience insights for ideation.
  • Mature scanning makeup products and design makeup looks by use Adobe Photoshop for ideal VTO result.
  • Make related UI design and create component library by use Figma and Sketch to comply with each brands’s style .

Design Process

  • Understand. Review clients’ requirements, collect information from marketing teams and conduct research and competitor analysis (Sephora, BeautyCam)
  • Ideate. Sketch out logical solutions for end-user.
  • Prototype. Design VTO demonstration with engineers.
  • Test. Provide demo to clients (makeup brands under Shiseido Group), get feedbacks and make adjustment.
  • Develop. Incorporate the testing result into the next iteration. 
  • Deliver. Deliver ideal VTO feature to brands for launch purpose.

Accomplishments

  1. Launched Virtual Try On features to different makeup brands under Shiseido Group:

2. Created Makeup products tuning tool and guideline for different marketing teams of makeup brands under Shiseido Group.

The tuning tool features include: Color tuning and texture tuning

Impact

  • Virtual makeup result is ideal.
  • VTO feature increased brands exposure and improving 5%-10% online revenue for each brand.
